Well, this english version of my blog never had that great amounts of visitors per day... There were days which brought three users to this blogs, but there were also much more days without a single user in this blog (of course it could have been my fault - without new posts for weeks the chances of many visitors regularly reading this blog are quite low). That was before November 13.

On November 13 I had a sudden increase in the number of visitors in this blog: In the time from 22 to 24 o'clock I had almost 250 visitors; the next days brought 1900, 900 and 2300 visitors per day. Since then the numbers dropped again, but I'm still at about 60 visitors per day.

And what was the reason for all this visitors to visit my blog? Do you know StumbleUpon? That's a pretty popular extension for Firefox. It displays the button which when clicked brings the user to a randomly chosen website. And my post about cleaning your keyboard in a dishwasher was submitted there...

By now this blog has reached about 6600 visitors. At the beginning of the month the counter showed just 350 of them...

Well... I didn't post any new entries to this blog for over one month. :-O

Well, I noticed that writing english blog entries takes me a lot more time than writing the same entry in german... Paired with the fact that there were lots and lots of work to do this sadly resulted in a very noticeable lack of (english) blog entries. But I will write more in the next days, I promise. ;-)

Today was the first day of the O-Phase [?], in which experienced students show the new students all the important things a student at the university of Dortmund should know.

Since I'm going to have to re-write the acronym-plugin for my usages and also are very tired, the reports of the O-Phase [?] will take a day or two to be translated into english...

Some time ago (on May 9th) the Uni Film Club presented "Blues Brothers". The three days prior to this "event" were very busy for Dominik and me: Every day we dressed like the Blues Brothers, stood in front of the refectory and advertised the movie. During this the shown photo was shot. (Here's a link to my german blog entry of this day.)

Well, even though my blog hasn't that many visitors, the picture made it into the Google image search results: Without content filtering it's visible on page 3 of the results, with strict filtering it even jumps to the first page of the results. Wow. ;-)

I just wrote a small plugin for serendipity to allow me to semi-automagically display a link to the alternative version of any entry in my german blog.

At first I planned to automatically generate the links based on the entryID, but that solution would have required me to keep the IDs in both the blogs synchronized at any point... now I just have to put the link to the alternative version of an entry into a text field and voila.

Since this version blog is intended to be a more or less complete translation of my german blog, I have to announce it in here, too: My blog (the german one) is two years old. :party: Well, not exactly... it's birthday was 3 days ago, I just missed it. :-|

Also the german blog's been visited by it's 50,000th visitor about a week ago. Hooray. ;-)

What a great idea - instead of just blogging in german, I'll try to also write my entries in english.

The entries will be the same - except for the fact, that they're going to be in english. ;-) That's a good method for me to practise english, but also my blog becomes open to a lot more people - and I can use the english one as a playground to test new things out.

I started blogging almost two years ago, on exactly my first day at the University of Dortmund.
